The Cut Powered by Andis® Opens at Gateway Technical College

Andis® Company, a leading manufacturer of handheld tools and education for the barber, beauty and animal grooming industries since 1922, partners with Gateway Technical College to open its new Barber and Cosmetology Technologist program studio, The Cut, in Burlington, Wisconsin.

“Andis Foundation is excited to support Gateway Technical College as they expand their barber and cosmetology program with this beautiful new facility serving western Racine county,” said Laura Andis- Bishop, Co-President of Andis Company. “Our foundation is about building stronger communities and this initiative does that by creating a best-in-class facility where young people will gain the skills needed to set them on a path to an exciting and growing career.”

The new studio was funded by the Andis Foundation to help fill the skills gap of trained barbers and stylists as business owners seek qualified hair professionals. The program also provides an important source of vocational training for students who live in the area and are looking to enter the barbering or cosmetology career fields. The program accepts 16 students per semester and covers topics on theory, basic to advanced book work, and hands-on lab experience in the studio. The public will have access to styling services at the Burlington location starting February 26, 2019 as the students enter the lab phase of their training. Currently, Gateway Technical College’s Cosmetology program is also offered on the college’s Racine Campus and the Barber Technologist program at the Kenosha Campus.

On November 12, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the expanded partnership and opening of The Cut studio in Burlington. In addition to Matt and Laura Andis, guests included Dr. Bryan Albrecht, Gateway President and CEO; Terry Simmons, Dean of The School of Protective and Human Services; Ram Bhatia, Gateway Board Member; Trish Almond, Barber/Cosmetology aide; Sandy Christman, Barber/Cosmetology aide; Sharon Nelson, Gateway Barber/Cosmetology Instructor; and Susan Nelson, Gateway Barber Instructor.
